Participation in Delphic Cultural Summit

I attended the Delphic Cultural Summit held in Kolkata on 12-14 October in the capacity of Secretary General, Delphic Council of North East. The event was organised by Bengal Delphic Council in association with National Delphic Council of India. It was collaborated by UNESCO, British Council, Delphic Council of Nepal etc. Fortyfive delegates attended from different countries in addition to Indian delegates from different states.

Our Delphic Council of North East took part in a big way in the Cultural Summit. Swapnanil Barua, myself, Dr Prasanna Gogoi, Somnath Bora Oja, Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra, Asomee Dutta Barua, Ranjan Bezbarua, Khyo Ngulli, Mrinmoyee Goswami, Gumjum Haider, Krishnanjan Chanda and Swapna Anjan Bora took part in this event on behalf of Delphic Council of North East. A Bihu performance by Dr Prasanna Gogoi and Somnath Bora Oja made the participants of the Cultural Summit spellbound. Somnath Bora Oja played six Dhols, supported by Swapna Anjan Bora, while Dr Prasanna Gogoi played buffalo horn. Both Somnath Bora Oja and Dr Prasanna Gogoi are recipients of medals in Delphic Games. There was also discussion with different foreign delegates about taking Bihu performance abroad.

We attended a cultural function held in the famous Kolkata Town Hall, a place once graced by Swami Vivekananda. Purulia Chau dancers performed there. I got photographed with one such dancer.

It was also a great privilege to receive a painting by the famous painter of Kashmir, Vinod Verma from Ashok Singh, the sincere Secretary General of National Delphic Council of India.

I was in distinguished company of Delphic Council leaders and artists from different parts of India as well as neighbouring countries in the cultural summit.

Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra regaled the audience with different anecdotes. Delphic Council of North East felicitated the delegates with Assamese Gamocha, which was highly appreciated.

It was overall an enjoyable time. The media coverage of the event was nice. The appreciation of Bihu performance in the summit was highlighted in the media of North East.
