Edgar from Israel accepts Nama Dharma

In a remarkable display of cultural exchange and spiritual exploration, a 47-year-old Israeli national, Edgar Faingor, embraced the Eka Sarana Nama Dharma, founded by the great polymath Srimanta Sankardeva. Initiated at Bali Sattra in Kaliabor, Edgar's journey into Vaishnavism marks a significant milestone. He became the first foreign national to take initiation in Eka Sarana Nama Dharma. The initiation ceremony was conducted by the Satradhikar of Baghargaon Satra, Hiru Prasad Mahanta. He renamed Edgar Faingor as Krishna Sharana Bhakat.

This event was culmination of communication with me over a long time. It underscores the global appeal and universality of Vaishnavism, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries. Edgar's spiritual quest began with his extensive travels across numerous countries, where he delved into the study of various religions, eventually finding solace in Buddhism. However, his exposure to my works sparked a profound connection with the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva and Vaishnavism. He would discuss the philosophical issues with me in online meetings, in addition to regular emails.

Expressing his admiration for the simplicity and profound spiritual depth of Vaishnavism's "Ek Saran Naam Dharma," Edgar highlighted its appeal amidst the complexity of other religious doctrines. His journey, spanning from his birthplace in Moscow, Russia, to his research endeavors in Nepal, and finally settling in Israel, reflects the transformative power of faith and the pursuit of spiritual truth. Edgar's story serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Srimanta Sankardeva, whose teachings continue to resonate across borders, uniting diverse cultures and communities in devotion to Lord Krishna. Through his embrace of Vaishnavism, Edgar pays homage to Srimanta Sankardeva's visionary efforts in fostering social harmony and spiritual enlightenment in Assamese society.

Edgar arrived at Nagaon on 1st April. The next day I took him to Kaliabor, where he was initiated. I also took him to Bardowa Than on 3rd April, since he was eager to visit the place where Srimanta Sankaradeva spent half of his life. The news of his initiation was widely and nicely covered in media, both inside and outside the state. I have prepared the above three paragraphs by taking a lot of inputs from such media coverages. I am indebted to the print media for the beautiful narrative. All the electronic channels also covered the news extensively.
