NAAC Peer Team visits A.D.P. College

A three men Peer Team from National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) visited the premier institution of middle Assam, A.D.P. College in Nagaon from November 19 to 21. The Peer Team was headed by Prof A.K. Pattanayak, former Vice Chancellor of Utkal University of Culture. Dr Deepak Kumar Verma, Principal of PK Roy Memorial PG College, Dhanbad was the Co-ordinator of the team. Prof Paramjit Singh Judge of Department of Sociology, Guru Nanak Dev University was also a member of the team.


The team was guided all along by Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, Co-ordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of A.D.P. College. Principal of A.D.P. College, Dr S.U. Ahmed gave a powerpoint presentation to the Peer Team, which was followed by an IQAC presentation about quality performance of the college.


Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti took the team to all the departments, centres and facilities. The team minutely examined the departmental records and the publications of the faculty members. Most departments gave their presentation in their respective smart rooms. The team highly appreciated the Bio-tech Hub, the Gymnasium and the Canteen of the college. They visited the Library of the college and highly appreciated its automation as well as the newly created digital section. The two girls hostels, students union office, common rooms etc were also checked. The utilities like twenty two drinking water facilities, toilets for specially able students etc were highly appreciated.


The team visited NCC, NSS, Disaster Management Cell, Medical Cell etc. They also interacted with the students, alumni and guardians. Many scholars, who had been students of A.D.P. College attended this interaction, which impressed the team. A cultural function was organised by the students of the college, where Bargeet, Sattriya Nritya, Bihu, Bamboo dance, Zikir etc were performed. Prof A.K. Pattanayak spoke at the end and termed the performance as excellent.


The Peer Team was also taken to some places, where the college had carried out extension works. The Exit Meeting took place on the last day. It was addressed by all three members of the Peer Team.


Prof A.K. Pattanayak handed over the report formally to the Principal in the Exit Meeting. He eulogised the college for its great leap forward since the last cycle and praised the leadership of the Principal. He said that the college was very strong in teaching and curriculum aspect and its library was excellent. He advised the teachers to increase their international publications. The meeting was compered by Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, who also offered vote of thanks.
