Golden Jubilee celebration of Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra

Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra, one of the oldest surviving literary body of Assam celebrated the concluding function of its golden jubilee on January 29 after year-long celebration starting in September 2010. A public meeting was held in the district library auditorium of Nagaon with Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, the president of Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra in the chair. Mileswar Pator of Marigaon was given the 'Kalangporiya  Sahitya Bota' in the meeting for his important thought-provoking contributions to Assamese literature. It may be mentioned that Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra has been offering the literary award 'Kalangporiya  Sahitya Bota' since 2006. Receiving the award, Pator said that the authors must work for unity of all ethnic groups of Assam. Distingushed story-writer Devabrata Das and poet Nanda Singh attended as guests of honour. Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra

Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra is one of the oldest surviving literary body of Assam. Established way back in 1961 in Nagaon, this literary body has been working actively and incessantly to guide authors of middle Assam. Almost all litterateurs from Nagaon have been associated with Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra at some time or other. It organizes monthly literary sittings, where the members read out their writings. Each such sitting is like a literary workshop, where the read-out materials are thoroughly analysed by the critics. Many distinguished litterateurs have attended the sessions of Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra at different times. Some of them are Mahichandra Bora, Dr Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya, Dr Surjya Kumar Bhuyan, Navakanta Barua, Mahim Bora, Dr Lakshminandan Bora, Prafulla Chandra Bora. Since 2006, Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra has been offering a literary award named 'Kalangporiya  Sahitya Bota'. Recipients of this award till now are Dr Sarbeswar Rajguru

Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva, an international community engaged in spreading Srimanta Sankaradeva's humanitarian ideology across the globe has launched its official website www.sankaradeva.com in a colourful function on January 1, 2012 at District Library, Guwahati. The function was attended by the leading people of Assam associated with Sankaradeva movement. Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, President of Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva launched the website by pressing the mouse and explained the features of the site. He also dwelt on the pan-Indian works of the great saint in medieval era and reiterated the resolve of the society to take the message of the saint all over the globe.
