Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra




Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra is one of the oldest surviving literary body of Assam. Established way back in 1961 in Nagaon, this literary body has been working actively and incessantly to guide authors of middle Assam. Almost all litterateurs from Nagaon have been associated with Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra at some time or other. It organizes monthly literary sittings, where the members read out their writings. Each such sitting is like a literary workshop, where the read-out materials are thoroughly analysed by the critics.

Many distinguished litterateurs have attended the sessions of Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra at different times. Some of them are Mahichandra Bora, Dr Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya, Dr Surjya Kumar Bhuyan, Navakanta Barua, Mahim Bora, Dr Lakshminandan Bora, Prafulla Chandra Bora.

Since 2006, Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra has been offering a literary award named 'Kalangporiya  Sahitya Bota'. Recipients of this award till now are Dr Sarbeswar Rajguru (posthumous), Kumud Bora, Benudhar Kalita, Tilak Chandra Mazumdar and Lokeswar Gogoi. This year Mileswar Pator will be given this award. A commmittee selects the recipient of this award and nominates only people who makes original contributions that have impact on the society.

Kalangporiya Alochana Chakra publishes an annual magazine named 'Kalangjyoti'. Presently the organization is headed by Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti as President and Navakanta Ligira as General Secretary. Since September 2010, it has been celebrating the golden jubillee year with different programmes. The golden jubillee celebration will conclude with a public meeting and literary competitions on January 29, 2012.
